Yes, that's actually one of the core advantages of our Aurion WPT™ wireless power transfer technology. Devices without batteries, or even those with very small batteries that are used only as backup energy sources, can draw power directly from an external source through Resonant Link Medical's wireless power link, rather than relying on stored energy alone. This opens up design possibilities that battery-dependent implants simply don't have, ensuring implants can run continuously off transmitted power with no battery at all, which removes battery volume and the need for battery replacement or battery exchange surgeries.
This is especially relevant for some of the applications we focus on, like neuromodulation, cochlear implants, biosensing and diagnostics, brain-computer interfaces, and other applications where miniaturized implants are key. For these applications, size has been limited by battery volume, with further miniaturization not possible as long as power is required. Now, devices can be smaller and get the power they need with our Eterni™ wireless power hub, which can provide up to 500 mW of continuous wireless power to mm-scale implants, changing the current paradigm where battery volume dictates how small a device can get.
